Thai temple and local community in Pichit province

Action research examining the role of Buddhist monasteries as social capital epicenters and fiscal coordinators for local welfare and heritage preservation in Pichit province.

Overview Temples in rural Thailand have historically functioned not merely as religious sanctuaries, but as communal treasuries, disaster shelters, and welfare providers.

Participatory Model in Pichit CPCS worked directly with 12 subdistrict temple committees in Pichit to institute accountable community funds, revitalize organic farming mutual funds, and preserve local artisan techniques.
